First Baptist Votes to Relocate
FBC formed a Long Range Planning Committee in 1991 to develop "a plan for acquiring and utilizing property to meet the future growth needs of the church." This committee was authorized in 1995 to look for property outside the downtown area for a possible relocation. On March 3, 1996 the church voted by secret ballot to purchase 52 acres on Dave Lyle Boulevard for $1.3 million. These photographs show Pastor Steve Hogg announcing the vote and the congregation celebrating the affirmative vote.
